Landscape planting
Whether you’re working from one of our designs, refreshing tired foundation beds or finishing a new home, we handle the planting from start to finish:

Planting is part of every custom design/build project we do. We also take on planting-only jobs, and we finish new beds and lawns with sod, mulch and pine straw.
Seasonal color installations
Want a little color for the season? MPDG has you covered. Seasonal color is the quickest way to brighten an entrance, a patio or a commercial sign bed. We choose flowers suited to the time of year and the spot, install them in prepared beds, and keep them looking good if you’re on one of our maintenance plans.

Finishing touches: sod, mulch and pine straw
A new planting isn’t finished until the beds are covered and the lawn around them is whole again. We top new beds with mulch or pine straw, a Southern classic that gives beds a clean look, helps hold moisture and suppresses weeds, and we lay sod where lawn was disturbed. Before we dig
Every installation starts with a walk around the site. We note where utilities run, how water drains after a storm and which areas get hard afternoon sun. Buried utility lines should always be marked through Mississippi 811 before any digging starts. We also ask how much care you want to give the landscape, because the right plant list for a hands-on gardener is different from one for a busy family or a commercial property.
When to plant in central Mississippi
Our climate gives us a long planting season, but timing still matters. Mississippi State University Extension notes that because our soils don’t freeze in winter, fall is the best time to plant container-grown and balled-and-burlapped trees. Roots keep growing through the cool months and many trees become established before summer heat. We plan tree and shrub planting around that rhythm whenever we can. Seasonal color follows the calendar: cool-season flowers go in for fall and winter, warm-season color for spring and summer.

Helping new plants succeed
The first summer is the hardest for new plants. A few things make a big difference:
- Water: consistent watering until roots establish. Our irrigation services can install, repair or adjust zones for new beds.
