Working with local landscape rules
Commercial projects in the Jackson metro often have to meet city landscape requirements. A few examples from published ordinances:
- City of Madison: development needing a site plan must include a landscape plan prepared by a landscape architect or other qualified professional. Tree surveys must be sealed by a registered land surveyor or landscape architect. The plan’s elements must be guaranteed by the applicant for at least one growing season. An irrigation system is generally required.
- City of Ridgeland: projects go through the city’s Architectural Review Board, with landscape plans reviewed against the city’s landscape and tree ordinances.
