The Natchez Trace was the first road through Clinton, and today the Natchez Trace Parkway, US 80 and I-20 all pass through the city. Clinton is home to the oldest college in Mississippi, founded in 1826. Its Olde Towne district, with a street grid laid out in 1829 and brick streets, gives the city a historic heart. With about 28,000 residents, it’s the tenth-largest city in the state and has a mix of older homes near Olde Towne and newer subdivisions farther out.
